Hell, if you searched for songs to pirate (wasnt even whole albums back then), sometimes youd get video clips of shows with the songs on the radio in the background or something. "Tonights Episode of Angel included music by." etc accounts for no small part of my music collection from that era. barely the same show, i was super pissed. I downloaded DVD rips of that in like 2004 and rewatched it. This is probably an odd example, but fucking Roswell man. ".after that we were trying to figure out auditions for Elvis, kind of a big part of course, but then somebody went "Whos the top Elvis impersonator in the world, why dont we just get that guy?"!" Cmon, they very deliberately lingered on young very obviously Joey Ramone in the audience at the New York Dolls show! Although i guess season 2 wouldve inevitably mostly been about the rise of disco, with the proto punks as a side plot, so maybe were better off.īut maybe it couldve been better with fewer budgetary constraints from the music, or HBO wouldve given it more of a chance if it were cheaper.ĮDIT: I do kinda wanna watch it again with commentary, im sure thatll be fascinating. But then towards the end when all that BS got sorted again it started to grab me again. Its a show about the music, i dont want to have to care about the business, or their personal relationships unrelated to the music the mob stuff i could take it or leave it, but its Scorcese, so ill take it.
It really grabbed me at first, but then the middle got kind of lame.
